Chapter 40 is the fortieth chapter of Yuki Suetsugu's Chihayafuru.
Quick Summary
Ririka's defeat by Chihaya makes people's opinions change about her being a karuta prodigy. Chihaya however defends her in her own way making her smile again. Hisashi Suo, the current Meijin, makes a surprise appearance. And Chihaya's next opponent turns out to be Yumi Yamamoto, the former Queen.
Meanwhile, one of Arata's seniors seems to be getting discouraged in karuta while Arata advances to round two.
