Chihayafuru: Shimo no Ku (ちはやふる 下の句) is a 2016 Japanese youth drama film written and directed by Norihiro Koizumi. It is the second of three live action film adaptations of the popular manga series Chihayafuru, written and illustrated by Yuki Suetsugu. The film was released in Japan by Toho on April 29, 2016.
Summary[]
After successfully winning the Tokyo qualifying tournament, Chihaya Ayase and her friends are set to go on to the karuta nationals. As they prepare, Chihaya is faced with a new personal issues as her childhood friend and inspiration, Arata Wataya, has announced that he has quit competitive karuta. Not only that, but a new rival emerges, the reigning female karuta champion, Shinobu Wakamiya, a karuta prodigy who became the nation's and the world's greatest female karuta player as a 9th grader. All of this forces Chihaya to reexamine her love for the game in the midst of preparing for one of the biggest tournaments of the year.
