Template:Character Taeko Miyauchi is a science teacher at Mizusawa High School. She is the homeroom teacher of Chihaya Ayase and Tsutomu Komano. She was the original advisor of the tennis team, then later the advisor of the karuta club at school.
Appearance
Taeko Miyauchi has gray hair, which she tends to tie in a bun, and gray eyes.
Personality
As a teacher, Miyauchi-sensei is feared for her strictness and outspokenness. Other teachers are afraid to go against her will. The only teacher who can stand up to her is Mr. Fukusaku, the classical literature teacher, who also seems to have seniority over her.
At first Miyauchi-sensei didn't like karuta thinking it was nonsense and didn't care about it. She changed her mind when she saw the karuta club members were focused and serious about the game.
She became very supportive of the club, watching over the members when they get injured and even giving them sashes to hold up their kimono sleeves when the temperature got too hot. She fought to keep the club from losing their room to the concert band. She protected the club from getting dissolved by saying they received 20 new recruits, even though 18 of them left.
